Ex-Patriot gets brutally honest about Tom Brady, considers another quarterback the GOAT

“People ask me all the time because they know I played with Tom,” Dorsett said. “They ask, ‘Who was the best quarterback you’ve played with?’ I always tell them, “To be honest with you, talent-wise, it was Andrew Luck, for sure.” Andrew was a natural born leader. Even though he was young, he handled himself like a seasoned vet.”
Dorsett highlights Luck’s unique talent and career challenges
Dorsett went on to praise Luck’s athleticism and intelligence. “He was tough as hell, athletic. Bro, when you watch him play basketball, you’d think, ‘Damn, this man is really an all-around athlete.’ He had a strong arm, was smart, and was accurate. It’s just injuries, bro. It’s football.” Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, made an immediate impact, setting the record for most passing yards in a rookie season and leading the Colts to three consecutive 11-5 seasons.
Luck’s career, however, has been marred by injuries, including a devastating shoulder injury that kept him out for the entire 2017 season. Despite a spectacular comeback in 2018, Luck stunned the NFL world by retiring at the age of 29, claiming physical and mental health issues. Dorsett’s forthright observations underscore that, while Brady’s exploits are amazing, genius and skill can come in many shapes, and Luck’s brief but brilliant career made an indelible impression.
