BREAKING: Veteran Linebacker makes an official visit to Auburn

Christian Jones, a four-star 2025 linebacker and Nebraska’s top prospect, reportedly paid Auburn a “very, very good” visit last weekend.

Jones, who made his first visit to the Plains this weekend, chose Auburn because of his previous relationship with defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, who coached Texas A&M.

“Coach Durkin is from Youngstown, Ohio, and so is my head coach. So, they have that fire in them, and I understand what they’re about,” Jones told On3. “His scheme fits my style better I would say.”

Jones, like many recruits who visit the Plains for the first time, emphasized the “family-like” mentality around Auburn’s campus as one of the key reasons he is excited to return for another visit. “I would just say I felt really good culture here,” Jones stated. “Everyone is connected and seems like a large family. I had a feeling about that. “I’m all about that stuff.”

Aside from the culture, the Cornhusker State native, who struggles with many chilly Friday nights up north, cited the “beautiful and nice weather” as another reason he enjoyed his stay on the Plains. While the visit went well, the 6-2, 215-pound linebacker isn’t rushing to make a choice. He plans to visit Nebraska and Oklahoma later this month, in addition to returning to Auburn this summer. Jones is also intrigued in Wisconsin, which has a strong history of producing inside linebackers like himself.
