Love anticipates a new deal from the Packers before training camp.

“Both parties want to get a contract extension done,” General Manager Brian Gutekunst stated.

Jordan Love, the Packers’ quarterback, plans to sign a new deal in the weeks leading up to training camp next month.

“It’s what I’ve heard,” Love said Tuesday, as Green Bay began its mandated minicamp outside Lambeau Field.

The Packers owe Love $11 million for the 2024 season as part of the $13.5 million agreement he signed with the intention of starting for the first time following Aaron Rodgers’ trade in April 2023.

Love stated that he prefers to “be in the mix” during talks but otherwise remained tight-lipped. He declined to acknowledge claims that the two sides are “close.”

Last season, Love had a slow start but led Green Bay to the playoffs with a wild-card spot, completing 64.2% of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

The Packers are hoping to finalize a long-term agreement with Love, which the front management has been discussing since the season concluded.

“We’re having those conversations right now,” Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst told 97.3 The Game last month. “The wonderful thing about this is that none of these things are always simple or quick, but both parties want the same result. We’d like to finish this before training camp for sure.

“Both parties want to finalize a contract extension. Stability at that position provides you with some assurance in the way we create our teams. We’re looking forward to getting things done, but it never happens quickly.”

While other quarterbacks are avoiding camp due to contract negotiations, Love has continued to participate in voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) this offseason.

Love was taken by the Packers in the first round (26th overall) of the 2020 draft from Utah State. He appeared in just ten games (one start) over his first two NFL seasons before taking over the starting job in 2023.
