Kevin Porter Jr. of the Rockets was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in a Manhattan hotel room.
According to reports, the victim was sent to the hospital with bruises and a broken bone.
The fiancée of Houston Rockets basketball player Kevin Porter Jr. is accused of assaulting him at a Manhattan hotel overnight, and Porter was taken into custody on Monday morning, according to PEOPLE.
Two felony charges of assault and strangulation are being brought against Porter Jr., 23, according to a spokesman for the New York City police.
Porter Jr. has been moved for booking and is being detained until his arraignment.
Kysre Gondrezick, a former WNBA player and Porter Jr.’s girlfriend, is the victim, according to ABC News. Gondrezick, 26, was sent to a nearby hospital with bruises and a broken bone, according to local NBC 4.
A NYPD spokesperson tells PEOPLE the victim had laceration on the right side of her face and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police allege Porter Jr. “struck her multiple times about the body and placed his hands around her neck.”
NBC 4 reports that Porter Jr.’s alleged assault began after he got locked out of his hotel room and that hotel security was called. The hotel’s security allegedly called police soon after the incident ended.
“We are in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr.” a Houston Rockets official tells PEOPLE.
The Rockets spokeswoman said, “At this time, we have no further comment.” PEOPLE’s request for comment on Monday was not immediately answered by Porter Jr.’s agency.
According to Porter Jr.’s Instagram, he was in New York City working out with Chris Brickley’s “Black Ops” pickup game series. Based around New York Fashion Week, the pickup game at the Summit in Manhattan included multiple other NBA stars on the court.
