GREAT NEWS: New York Yankees are bringing him back to face the Orioles
Gerrit Cole, the New York Yankees’ ace, is officially back.
According to manager Aaron Boone, the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner will return to MLB off the injured list on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles.
It was speculated that the Yankees kept Wednesday’s position available on the probables list in case Cole was ready to return.
It appears like the relocation will be official.

Cole has been on the 60-day disabled list since the beginning of the season due to elbow nerve inflammation, thus his return has been delayed.
After losing two of the last three games in a series against the Boston Red Sox, Cole’s comeback is perfectly timed. This is especially relevant given that the Orioles sit 1.5 games behind the Yankees in the standings heading into Monday.
Cole had three rehab starts in June, two at Double-A and his most recent in Triple-A. His most recent outing, on Friday night, was a strong performance from the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner.
Cole threw 70 pitches during his most recent rehab appearance. He pitched 4.1 innings, allowing two hits, one run (unearned), and no walks while striking out ten. He also produced 21 whiffs.
Cole is still working up to throwing 70-80 pitches, so he isn’t totally recovered yet, but the Yankees got their ace back at an ideal moment.
