For John Calipari’s final Kentucky basketball team, the dust has finally settled. The Wildcats’ roster has undergone a full overhaul as a result of a transformative summer for the UK program, which saw Calipari leave to take a head coaching position at Arkansas and former Cat Mark Pope elected Kentucky’s new head coach.
The 2023–24 UK team, which placed second in the SEC regular season standings but lost both of its postseason games, has lost all 12 of its scholarship players. After the previous season, two of the players—guard Antonio Reeves and forward Tre Mitchell—were no longer eligible to attend college. Guards Rob Dillingham, Justin Edwards, and Reed Sheppard are the other three players that chose to forego college and seek professional possibilities by selecting in the NBA draft. Edwards is predicted to be a first-round pick who is on the verge of being selected, while Dillingham and Sheppard will almost certainly be lottery picks.
