Sources: Nic Cross, a former first-round pick, re-signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed Canadian strong-side linebacker Nic Cross to a two-year contract extension, per sources, tying him to the team through 2025. He was slated to become a free agent on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
The 24-year-old played 17 regular season games with the Ticats this past season, recording 14 special teams tackles and one forced fumble.
The five-foot-ten, 210-pound defender has played 34 career games over the past three seasons in Steeltown, recording two defensive tackles, 38 special teams tackles, and one forced fumble.
The Regina native was a first-round pick in the 2021 CFL Draft out of the University of British Columbia, where he was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian in 2019 after leading the country in tackles.
The Ticats will open their 2024 regular season by visiting the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on Friday, June 7.

Two players have re-signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as they continue to make roster changes. On Tuesday afternoon, the team made an announcement on social media about the return of offensive lineman Kendrick Sartor and long snapper Gordon Whyte.
Whyte joined Hamilton in 2019 after being selected by the Tiger-Cats with the 67th overall pick in the eighth round of the CFL Draft. Throughout the course of the Hamilton regular season, he has participated in 50 games and recorded 13 special teams tackles.
This past season, he played in every game, including their lone playoff game with three special teams tackles made. Whyte attended Tiger-Cats training camp in 2019 but was placed on the suspended list before the season so he could return to school at St. Francis Xavier. He made his CFL debut in 2021 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Sartor made six starts for the Tiger-Cats at right tackle this past season. He previously played in college for Marshall, making 24 starts with the Thundering Herd over a span of five seasons. Hamilton signed the 6-foot-7, 315-pound lineman in May to help build depth on the offensive line.
