Even though the 2024 college football season won’t begin for another year, planning ahead is always a good idea.
As summer approaches and perspectives keep changing, we’re revisiting the ACC starting quarterbacks for 2024 and upgrading our post-spring rankings. Since things can change quickly, we regularly update our rankings. Although not every team has revealed the identity of their starting quarterback, our rankings are based on the program’s output and current forecasts.
With new initiatives and new members joining the conference, the ACC is changing. New quarterbacks arrive with these programmes; one stands out as one of the best in the ACC from the start.
Keep in mind that these rankings are arbitrary, so consider them with caution! Here are our preseason rankings for the starting quarterbacks in the Atlantic Coast Conference for 2024.
2023 stats: 296 rushing yards, 3 running touchdowns, 11 passing touchdowns, 2,247 pass yards, 8 interceptions, and 58.8%
In 2024, Stanford faces a challenging ACC schedule. Though Ashton Daniels, the team’s anticipated starting quarterback, is enjoying a fantastic spring, they could surprise people and finish at the bottom of the conference.
2023 statistics: 595 pass yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception, -13 rushing yards, 1 touchdown on the run, and 66.1%
Although Eli Holstein is fiercely vying for the starting position, we currently predict Yarnell to start. In 2023, Yarnell performed admirably and still has a lot of room to improve.
2023 stats: -26 rushing yards, 0 rushing touchdowns, 2,058 pass yards, 10 passing touchdowns, 5 interceptions, and 67.7%
If there had been a ranking before the 2023 season, Bachmeier would have been rated far higher. The quarterback is hopeful the Demon Deacons can help him reach his full potential because his career has been very up and down.
Statistics for 2023: 63.0%, 1,708 throwing yards, 14 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 86 rushing yards, and 2 scores on the ground
This one piques my interest. Initially, I would have said that there is absolutely no chance that transfer Chandler Rogers would lose this quarterback competition, but it appears Mendoza is winning handily. He has a solid possibility of shooting up these rankings once the season begins if he can hold off Rogers.
