GREAT NEWS: Three Oklahoma softball players receives Academic All-American accolades.
Sooners softball continues to flourish both on the field and in the classroom.
OU softball players have just won their fourth consecutive national championship. The ladies are also pretty smart. Alyssa Brito, a third baseman, has been selected Academic All-America Team Member of the Year. She is the first Sooner to receive this accolade since Lana Moran in 2000.
Pitcher Kelly Maxwell made the second team, while outfielder Rylie Boone made the third team. Brito studied psychology, Maxwell healthcare law, and Boone communications.
Alyssa Brito transferred from Oregon and appeared in 188 games for Oklahoma. She had a career batting average of.395, 49 home runs, and 167 RBIs.
Kelly Maxwell, who transferred from Oklahoma State, was named to the 2023 third-team and the 2022 second-team.
This is Rylie Boone’s first year receiving this accolade. She spent her whole five-year career at Oklahoma.
The CSC Academic All-American program honors the nation’s top student-athletes for their achievements on and off the field.
