After the Sooners’ historic fourth straight championship, the dust has settled, and it is now time to focus on the rebuild.
Ten seniors from the Sooners are leaving the programme, five of whom were part of the team that won four consecutive national titles. This offseason, OU also lost three players—Avery Hodge, Quincee Lilio, and SJ Guerin—to the transfer portal. Hodge was expected to start at second base out of the three in order to give Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering more time to establish themselves as the team’s rising stars.
As Oklahoma’s new-look roster is in the midst of summer workouts, one of the Sooners’ former players has finally found a new home.
Kaden Cooper, the former four-star guard who spent his freshman season at Oklahoma before entering the transfer portal, announced Sunday afternoon that he has committed to Louisiana Tech. Cooper will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Bulldogs.
Cooper is a former four-star prospect in the 2023 class who was rated as the No. 58 overall player in the country and the 11th-best wing coming out of The Skill Factory. A native of Ada, Cooper appeared in just 15 games as a true freshman last season, averaging 1.5 points and 0.9 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per game. He shot 46.7% from the field and made three of his six 3-point attempts last season.
During Oklahoma’s 20-win season, Cooper played four games with double-digit minutes off the bench, but he never saw more than 14 minutes in a single contest. He had a career-high eight points in the 14-minute game against Texas State early in the season, going 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. He also brought down two rebounds in the nonconference win.
