Edge rusher Haason Reddick reassures New York Jets supporters following his trade from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New York Jets earlier this month. The edge rusher has since opened up about his offseason relocation to New Jersey.
Following his trade from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New York Jets, Haason Reddick expressed his opinions to Jets supporters.
The 29-year-old edge rusher has reassured supporters that his performance was not a factor in the Eagles’ decision to move him. Reddick was traded by the Jets for a third-round draft pick in 2026, but if he plays at least 67.5 percent of the time and records 10 sacks in 2024, Philadelphia will receive a second-round pick instead.
After signing a three-year deal with the Eagles, Bryce Huff had recently left the Jets. In late March, the teams decided to trade Reddick. Some fans have questioned the decision because Reddick is fourth in sacks (50.5) and has more forced fumbles than any other player since 2020.
Since he began competing in the NFL in 2017, he has also proven to be incredibly dependable, missing just one game. For the Jets, who frequently have injured players, this is fantastic.
On Monday, Reddick adamantly stated that his poor play was the reason the Eagles held onto him. He made a suggestion that perhaps he requested more money than the Eagles could afford. It had nothing to do with how much fuel he still had. It’s a business, and sometimes you have to make tough choices even though you don’t want to,” Reddick said to reporters.
Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jadeveon Clowney was originally the target of the Jets, who even invited him for a meeting. But, they started to focus on Reddick once he decided to sign with the Carolina Panthers instead.
