Warriors GM Breaks Silence on Klay Thompson’s Free Agency

The Golden State Warriors have a slew of concerns to address this offseason, but the first and most important is Klay Thompson’s free agency. It is an ongoing issue that appears to be rife with passive-aggressive drama.

Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. addressed to the media during a pre-NBA draft press conference on Monday, where he discussed the Klay Thompson saga.

“We want him back,” Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy stated. “We’ve said it all along. Hopefully he’ll return. But, in terms of specifics and debates, I believe it is necessary to keep those things in-house. When we figure out how to solve all of this, we’ll let you know.”

If Klay Thompson were any other player on the Warriors without a legacy, the franchise would probably let him go. However, Klay helped build the Golden State Warriors, which makes the decision much more difficult.

“I think I’m reasonable, rational,” Dunleavy stated. “That is how I will always operate. But I believe it is nearly hard to entirely remove emotion from a player like Klay Thompson, who has meant so much to this franchise. But this is a business. We will talk about it again and again. We’re hopeful, but we’ll see. “We need to figure things out.”

In all honesty, Dunleavy’s statements are somewhat disturbing. It appears that both parties are still a long way from reaching an agreement. It’s evident that both parties have a lot to figure out before making any significant progress.
