BREAKING: Veteran Offensive Lineman commits to Miami

Miami’s trench-rebuilding efforts continue. On Wednesday night, the Hurricanes received a verbal commitment from four-star offensive tackle Max Buchanan.

Buchanan’s friendship with Miami has strengthened significantly in the past year. He paid his first visit to Miami just before the Rivals Camp in South Florida, where he won offensive lineman MVP. The bond has expanded immensely since then. The Hurricanes have routinely contacted Buchanan more than any other school in recent months.

“Miami was contacting me the most,” Buchanan added. “Coach Edwin Pata, Coach Alex Mirabal, and Coach Mario Cristobal. It’s the entire offensive staff.”

Buchanan made six official visits in the last four weeks and was fatigued by the experience.

“I learned a lot of useful information from each school I attended. I learned a lot from many of the players and coaches while I was there…it’s exhausting doing all these official visits.”

Buchanan paid official visits to Clemson, Florida State, Ole Miss, Penn State, and UCF Miami, but Miami emerged as the overwhelming favorite for the 6’4″, near 300-pounder. Following his OV to Miami, the Seminole High School talent saw opportunities for development.

“I really like it down there. I like Coach Cristobal and Mirabal. I truly like the staff at Miami. I get along really well with the other gamers. The city’s name is Miami. When I travel down there, I will be able to take advantage of numerous business chances and learn a great deal.”

Miami’s personal touch with Buchanan helped him commit to the Hurricanes.

“I certainly felt like I was the priority. I love it. It certainly shows. I admire how they established a relationship with them. I’ve chatted with them about life. It is not simply football. They enjoy my game. They occasionally teach me about specific topics. I have a strong connection with all of them.

Miami has gained five commitments in nine days, including three-star offensive lineman Demetrius Campbell, three-star offensive lineman Jaden Wilkerson, four-star defensive back Amari Wallace, four-star linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin, and Buchanan.

Miami has four-star quarterback Luke Nickel, four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, four-star running back Girard Pringle, four-star tight ends Brock Schott and Luka Gilbert, four-star defensive back Timothy Merritt, and three-star offensive lineman Takaylen Muex committed to the 2025 class.
