Where Miami Hurricanes stands with safeties who took official visits
According to the 247Sports and On3 databases, the Miami football program appears to have been effective in recruiting the safeties who took official visits in June.
The safeties that paid official visits to the Miami football team in June are split between 247Sports and On3. Some of the safeties are designated as cornerbacks, while others are more broadly categorized as defensive backs. Any prospect identified as a safety will be studied further below.
D.J. Pickett, a five-star prospect, is listed as a cornerback by On3 and a safety by 247Sports. Eric Winters, a four-star prospect, is listed as a linebacker by 247Sports and a safety by On3. Hylton Stubbs is a four-star prospect who is slated to play safety in college.
Winters was the first potential safety to pay a formal visit to Miami over the weekend of May 31. The 247Sports composite ranks Winters as Alabama’s 66th prospect, seventh safety, and fifth player. After official visits to Miami, Georgia, and Auburn, Winters chose the Tigers on June 15.
Four-star recruit Anquon Fegans was the only safety to visit Miami over the weekend of June 7. Fegans is a four-star prospect ranked 45th overall, fourth best safety, and second in Alabama. Four 247Sports crystal balls predict Fegans to Auburn, with On3 giving the Tigers a 70.8 percent likelihood of a commitment.

Three-star recruit Sael Reyes, Pickett, and four-star Amari Wallace paid official visits to Miami over the weekend of June 14. Miami’s standing with Pickett, Reyes, and Wallace differs significantly. Pickett is the only one of the three safeties on official visits over the weekend of June 14 who is currently uncommitted.
Prior to his June trip to Coral Gables, Reyes paid an official visit to SMU in May. Reyes committed to SMU after his visit. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine presently has Texas A&M as the favorite for Reyes at 83.0 percent. The higher-ranked safeties appear to be Miami’s top priorities.
Wallace committed to Miami just a few days after his formal visit with the Hurricanes. Wallace is ranked 293rd overall, 25th as a safety, and 41st in Florida for the 2025 class by 247Sports. Wallace is one of three defensive backs and the sole safety committed to Miami in 2025.
Pickett, Miami’s eighth-ranked prospect and five-star recruit in the 2025 class, would be a key player. In June, Pickett made formal visits to LSU, Georgia, Miami, and Oregon. According to On3 RPM, LSU has a 27.9 percent probability of securing a commitment from Pickett, with Miami coming in second at 14.3 percent.

Miami ended June with visits from Fitzgerald and Stubbs. Fitzgerald and Stubbs are both uncommitted. Miami-committed linebacker Elijah Melendez and edge rusher Herbert Scroggins also paid official visits to Miami on the weekend of June 21.
Fitzgerald is supposedly headed to Florida. According to 247Sports, Fitzgerald made formal visits to LSU, Florida, Florida State, and Miami in June. Fitzgerald currently has no crystal balls logged. Miami appears to be more interested on safety than the Miami Columbus star.
Stubbs is heading to Miami, with a committment set for Thursday shortly after noon. There are four 247Sports crystal balls that predict Stubbs will commit to Miami. Stubbs’ decision to Miami comes less than a month after he decommitted from USC.
Stubbs and Wallace would make a fantastic future safety pairing for Miami. Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson, who signed with Miami in the 2024 class, represents the Hurricanes’ future at the position. Miami also signed safeties Dylan Day and Isaiah Thomas for the 2024 class.
