NEWS FLASH: Pittsburgh Steelers has completed the signing of Super Bowl Winner

One past champion will be named to the Pittsburgh Steelers roster.

The Pittsburgh Steelers strengthened their defensive line this offseason by acquiring Dean Lowry, a former Minnesota Viking and Green Bay Packers defender. However, without another established member of the defensive depth chart behind their starters, one analyst proposes another option.

Lorenzo Reyna of Pro Football Network picked one available free player that each NFL team should sign this summer. The Steelers’ free agent is a former New England Patriots Super Bowl winner who is 34 years old and entering his 13th season. PFN proposes that Pittsburgh contact Lawrence Guy in order to enhance its defensive line.

“T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith require interior help, as well as cornerback. “With Lawrence Guy’s history of collapsing pockets inside, he could be very welcome here,” Reyna writes.

After starting his career in Indianapolis, Guy spent time with the San Deigo Chargers and Baltimore Ravens before finding himself in New England. He’s played the last seven seasons with the Patriots, accumulating 507 tackles, 39 tackles for loss and 17 sacks over his career.

Guy made 38 tackles and one tackle for loss last season, starting 12 of 17 games.

The arrival of the former Patriot would provide versatility to the Steelers’ defensive line. Guy would have the opportunity to play behind Larry Ogunjobi and alongside Lowry and DeMarvin Leal, and he could also play across the defensive line if necessary.

This season, the Steelers’ defensive line will most likely comprise Ogunjobi, Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton, Lowry, Isaiahh Loudermilk, Montravius Adams, and maybe Leal. Adams, Loudermilk, and Leal will compete for the last roster places as the team seeks to determine its best 53.

Guy would most likely enter the roster as someone expected to make the squad and quickly become an integral element of the team’s pass-rushing unit on the inside.
