Axl Rose has been sued for alleged sexual assault and battery by ex-model
Sheila Kennedy claims that the leader of Guns N’ Roses raped her in 1989 in a lawsuit filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act.
Axl Rose, the vocalist of Guns N’ Roses, was accused of sexual assault and battery by a former model in a lawsuit filed in New York on Wednesday (November 22).
Sheila Kennedy, a former Penthouse model and Pet of the Year in 1983, claims the veteran rock singer physically abused her in a New York hotel room in 1989.
Rose strongly disputes the claims. Alan Gutman, his attorney, told The Independent, “Simply stated, this incident never happened. Notably, these fictitious claims were filed one day before the New York State filing deadline.
“Though he does not rule out the potential of a fan photo snapped in passing, Mr Rose has no recall of ever meeting or conversing with the Plaintiff, and has never heard about these false charges before today.
In court records obtained by The Independent, Kennedy claims she met Rose in a nightclub and was asked back to his hotel. According to the ex-model, Rose served “cocaine, Champagne, and alcohol” to his visitors.
Kennedy claims she discovered herself in Rose’s bedroom as he began having rough sex with another model. After exiting the room, she allegedly heard objects being thrown before Rose began “screaming at the model” and ordering her to leave.
Kennedy claims Rose then came down the corridor and pushed her to the ground. “While Kennedy was on the ground, Rose grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the suite back to his bedroom,” according to his suit.
It continues to say that Rose then threw Kennedy on his bed and tied her hands behind her back with her pantyhose.
“Kennedy lay there on the bed with her hands tied behind her back, bleeding, vulnerable, and alone with Rose while he was in a sexual, volatile rage,” the suit alleges.
The lawsuit says that Kennedy has suffered “lifelong emotional, physical, psychological, and financial impacts” as a result of the claimed assault, as well as PTSD-like symptoms.
The Independent has contacted Rose’s reps for a response.
Kennedy’s is the most recent high-profile case to be filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act (ASA), which temporarily repealed the statute of limitations on sexual assault claims in civil litigation.
The ASA was signed last year and gives survivors of assault a one-year opportunity to come forward, regardless of when the incident occurred.
