Cleveland Browns has been urged to make a huge trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Cleveland Browns are preparing for the start of the 2024 NFL season, which they hope will lead to a playoff berth.
While many uncertainties remain about the club, there are also numerous reasons to be optimistic. Deshaun Watson’s possible breakout season and Nick Chubb’s return to the field are just two examples.
Currently, the roster appears to be reasonably set for the 2024 season. However, the Browns would undoubtedly welcome the opportunity to make a move if it made sense.
Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report has advocated that the team make a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs would acquire offensive tackle Jack Conklin in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
“Ideally, the Chiefs would be able to add an experienced tackle to their lineup. That’s difficult to do this time of year, but the Browns have a unique position that could provide an opportunity. Jack Conklin has been one of the league’s best right tackles, but an injury pulled him out of the lineup last season, and youngster Dawand Jones performed admirably in his place.”
Ballentine makes a valid point. Dawand Jones looked pretty good as the starting right tackle. This might make Conklin available for a deal that adds future assets to Cleveland.
Conklin, who stands 6 feet 6 and weighs 310 pounds, is a frightening figure on the offensive line. Keeping Watson well and upright will be a primary priority, therefore the Browns may not be interested in selling him.
Having said that, gaining a third and fifth-round selection for him is excellent value. If a deal was offered, Cleveland would have to seriously examine it.
Obviously, this is just speculation and a hypothetical trading scenario. Nothing has linked Kansas City to attempting to complete this transaction with the Browns.
Moving on from Conklin would be a difficult decision. Cleveland does need to position itself to attract as much talent as possible over the next few years.
If Conklin could be relocated without endangering the offensive line, this would be an excellent return for him.
