SAD NEWS: Patriots star has opted to quit playing owing to health issues.
Christian Barmore, a New England Patriots standout, was diagnosed with blood clots after receiving treatment at a Massachusetts hospital.
There is no schedule for Barmore’s comeback, with only six weeks until the NFL season begins.
The Patriots announced on Sunday, Christian Barmore’s 25th birthday, that he had been diagnosed with blood clots during the weekend.
“He was properly treated by the doctors at Mass General Brigham, who tested, evaluated, and treated Christian. Our primary worry at this time is Christian’s health and well-being.
Luckily, Mass General Brigham offers some of the top healthcare in the world. While there is no current date for his homecoming, we know Christian is receiving excellent care and look forward to his complete recovery.’
Nicole Lynn, Barmore’s agent, also tweeted a statement that read: ‘I would be sorry if I did not thank the Patriots’ trainer, Jim Whalen, for his incredible dedication and care over the last few days.
‘Today may have been quite different without Jim’s persistence and expertise.’
Barmore is starting his fourth NFL season after receiving a four-year, $84 million contract deal with New England in April, making him one of the league’s ten highest-paid defensive linemen.
The Patriots drafted Barmore in the second round out of Alabama in 2021, and he has 133 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 32 quarterback hits in 44 games, 11 of which are starts.
