JuJu Smith-Schuster’s departure from Patriots has been finally addressed by the team after cutting him from roster

JuJu Smith-Schuster was released on Friday after only one season with the team in 2023, which surprised the entire league. The New England Patriots are readjusting their roster, there is no doubt about it, but the reality that a veteran player like him would not be required to assist a young quarterback like Drake Maye left everyone perplexed.
While it is true that New England is in a new period of their history following Tom Brady’s resignation and later retirement, the new era of Patriots football must have a strong log as its foundation.
The team picked two wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft, and developing them will take time, especially after selecting a quarterback who will begin his NFL career as a starter in a few weeks. The young wide outs will not have a mentor.

The silence was broken
After a few days of silence, new New England head coach Jerod Mayo finally spoke up, stating that JuJu Smith-Schuster’s knee injury was a factor that eventually cost him his job.
“Yeah, Eliot and I made the decision to give the younger guys a chance to get more reps and prove what they’re capable of. We simply want him to become healthy. “He still has some good ball in him, and I wish him the best,” the head coach stated.
He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. In New England, he was meant to be a leader, and his departure will leave the club without one.
