A cold-hearted murderer who drank, snorted cocaine, and sang Sweet Caroline at a pub after bashing his partner to death has been sentenced

When David Liptrot confessed to his activities in the pub, he remarked, “If there are ever big problems, you get rid of them, and you shut.”

A cold-hearted murderer who drank, snorted cocaine, and sang Sweet Caroline at a pub after bashing his partner to death has been sentenced to life in prison.

Caroline Gore died on her bathtub floor while David Liptrot had a drug-fueled evening in his local. The 55-year-old from Chorley stunned several patrons when he casually disclosed to another patron that he had’stabbed someone eight times’ and that’she was dead’.

He was reportedly heard adding, “When you have problems, get rid of them.” The atmosphere in the tavern darkened, and a disgusted drinker couldn’t take Liptrot’s statements and immediately reported him to the landlady.

As he screamed out Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline and snorted lines of cocaine, staff attempted to contact Ms Gore without success, prompting them to call the police. Officers proceeded to the cleaner’s flat and discovered her body in the bathroom.

Liptrot, of Shelley Close in Coppull, denied murdering Ms Gore, who was described as ‘weak’ due to her mental health issues. However, a jury at Manchester Crown Court convicted him guilty after only 90 minutes of deliberation.
