REPORT: Oklahoma Sooners to play one of the biggest games of the year on the most popular wedding day of the year.
On October 12, the Oklahoma Sooners will face the Texas Longhorns in their annual rivalry game known as the Red River Rivalry. There will be no renewal of vows, waiting at the alter, or sharing that I Do kiss.
These two fan bases and schools despise one another, and it is no secret. It is one of college football’s most famous and heated rivalries, and it could be said to be the best. The rivalry was established in 1900, making it one of the oldest in college football. Except for a brief period during World War II, Dallas has served as the traditional site for the event since its inception.
The game is traditionally held at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The neutral site adds to the rivalry’s distinct atmosphere, as fans from both colleges flock to Dallas, frequently turning the city into a sea of burnt orange (Texas) and red (Oklahoma).
The Red River Rivalry is more than simply a football game; it is a cultural phenomenon that exemplifies collegiate sports’ spirit of competition, tradition, and community. And this clash will take the intensity to new heights, something we didn’t think was conceivable.
These two teams are starting their first season in the SEC, where competition is at an all-time high. It’s the most competitive conference in sports, and the Sooners and Longhorns might potentially be in contention for a playoff position at the conclusion of the season.
So there’s a lot at risk in this game. There will also be a lot at stake for a large number of couples around the world.

According to The Knot, one of the world’s largest wedding websites, October 12, the same day as the rivalry game, is the most popular wedding date of the year, with millions of people planning to marry on that day.
So, I assume those people will miss one of the year’s best games. However, if you’re a fan of any of those teams, you already knew not to hold your wedding that day.
