Another Grand Valley State player is headed to the NFL.

The New England Patriots have signed defensive end Christian McCarroll, the school announced.

McCarroll, who stood 6 feet, 4 inches and weighed 260 pounds, was an All-American and two-time GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year. As a senior, he recorded 67 tackles, 15 of which were for losses, leading GVSU deep into the playoffs.

In his career, he made 151 tackles, with 31.5 of them being for losses. He also recorded 15 sacks, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.

He will join former Patriot and Atlanta Falcon Matthew Judon as a former Lakers player in the NFL.

Generally, if several persons are’responsible’ for something, no one is ultimately accountable.

This is a key consideration while forming a team. This may be a difficult lesson for a first-time head coach to learn on the job. People frequently praise teamwork as the ultimate goal in the workplace. Unfortunately, this rarely works. Instead, what typically occurs is the beginning of the end. Things do not always go as planned. Two new issues arise as a result of distributing credit to people who contributed significantly. Firstly, egos frequently get in the way. The events eventually turn into a struggle for praise. What’s more worse is when this manifests itself as passive-aggressive behavior rather than open communication.

The second option is used when the opposite occurs. Because too many voices agreed on the initial choice, everyone engaged now has plausible deniability. When an organization does not perform well, blame can be shifted, and the collective game of who must be held accountable leads to people launching arrows from their corners.

Collaborative decision-making sounds appealing in theory. Unfortunately, the initial warmth and feeling of a collaborative effort often resembles what can be seen in any high school classroom. Some people go along for the ride. Some people put in an excessive amount of work. When a ‘F’ is handed out, individuals point their fingers.

Until the second preseason game, all parties indicated that Jacoby Brissett would start. Head Coach Mayo mentioned that there was a competition. But he made it clear that the starter would be the more experienced player at this time. The Patriots’ former third-round pick played the majority of first-team snaps. Furthermore, the squad made their intentions regarding Drake Maye apparent. Everyone believes he has great potential. However, the departure from his plan and subsequent adherence to it should raise concerns. This changed after a week with the Philadelphia Eagles. More importantly, it appears that public pressure may be influencing internal discussions.

Officially, the New England Patriots’ quarterback situation remains uncertain. However, as history has shown, if there is a serious quarterback dispute or battle, there is most likely no quarterback. The rookie from North Carolina has the potential to become a professional bowler one day. However, given the limitations of this club, there is nothing to gain by deviating from the initial strategy of starting Brissett.
