SAD NEWS: Cleveland Browns star player has been ruled out of NFL openers due to shoulder injury

Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns’ running back, will miss at least the first four games of the NFL season due to a long-term knee injury.

Chubb has been out for nearly a year and has undergone two surgeries since suffering an injury against Pittsburgh in the Browns’ second game last season.

“I get to see him every day,” squad coach Kevin Stefanski explained. “He’s working very hard. His viewpoint is day-to-day.

“That is how Nick operates, and it is also how I operate. He plays an important role in whatever we do and attends every meeting. There is no update except to mention that he is working extremely hard.”

Nick Chubb injury

Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler, has been in the gym while his rehabilitation continues, and he was never expected to return in time for the Browns’ home opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday (4.25pm ET).

There is better news for right tackle Jack Conklin, who has passed physical testing in his recovery from a knee injury sustained in the first game of the season.

Safety D’Anthony Bell, defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, and cornerback Greg Newsome II have all returned to practice.

“Injuries are a part of this game, and people have to rehab and work really hard to get back,” Stefanski said, emphasizing that the players remained active with the club.

“Everything we do to get the team ready for this season… we’ve talked a lot about not wasting any of these days. All of it goes into getting ready.”

Cleveland Browns: Chubb comeback

Speaking in June, Chubb stated that he was “where I need to be” in his recuperation. “Eventually, I’ll get to where I need to be,” he told me.

“It’s obviously encouraging to come out and see the guys practice.

“Just being around, seeing the plays, and refocusing my mind on football is crucial. It’s always difficult not to be able to play the game with your teammates from camp.”
