The New England Patriots are expressing a very early interest in Colorado wideout Travis Hunter.
The New England Patriots are preparing to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. However, they are also looking ahead to the future.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the crew attended the Colorado Buffaloes’ opening game of the season. Travis Hunter appears to be a name that they are interested in as they look for a solid long-term No. 1 wide receiver for rookie quarterback Drake Maye.
According to the school, 31 scouts and front office staff attended Colorado’s 31-26 victory over North Dakota State on Thursday night, representing 18 different teams, including the Patriots. Given the Patriots’ ongoing search for a No. 1 receiver, it could be a preview of how thorough they will be in evaluating Colorado dynamic pass catcher Travis Hunter, who is ranked No. 9 by ESPN analyst Field Yates.”
Hunter is going to be one of the most talked-about players in college football season. He impressed in Colorado’s season opener.
Against North Dakota State, he had seven receptions for 132 yards and three scores.
That performance turned many heads that had already begun to turn. There has been considerable discussion regarding whether Hunter will play wide receiver or cornerback in the NFL. He’s showing a lot of potential as a wide receiver.
Reiss’ speculation that the Patriots may have a strong interest in Hunter is intriguing. He would provide New England with an exceptional playmaking talent with which Maye might work in the future.
Obviously, several other NFL teams are interested in Hunter. The Patriots will conduct extensive scouting on him, but they are not guaranteed a chance to choose him.
