BREAKING: The New England Patriots sends a shocking message to NFL
The New England Patriots delivered a statement and stunned the NFL with an upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
This afternoon, the New England Patriots kicked off a new era of football. In their first game under Jerod Mayo, the Patriots defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 16-10.
Jacoby Brissett has also begun his term as the team’s starting quarterback.
When everything was said and done, Brissett completed 15 of 24 ball attempts for 121 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also gained 32 yards on seven carries.
Rhamondre Stevenson was New England’s star player. He was a workhorse on the ground, gaining 120 yards and a touchdown on 25 attempts. These averages add up to a very respectable 4.8 yards per carry.
Defensively, the Patriots completely shut down Joe Burrow and the Bengals. Burrow threw for 164 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Nothing looked promising for Cincinnati on the offensive side of the ball.
Keon White, New England’s defensive end, had a significant contribution with 2.5 sacks.
It was not the most visually appealing game, but a victory is a win. The Patriots are 1-0 to start the season, and defeating the Bengals was no easy assignment. This is a win to be proud of, and it makes a message for New England.
In Week 2, the Patriots will play their home opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Once again, they will not be favorites to win.
Despite the fact that the national media does not believe New England has a good chance of competing this season, Mayo and his team clearly believe otherwise. Today was a terrific start, and it’ll be intriguing to see if the squad can pull off another upset next week to go 2-0.
