Terry finished sixth in the individual 100-meter final, behind her compatriots Richardson and Jefferson, who took home silver and bronze, respectively, but she held her own in a very strong field.
Terry’s path was far from easy, even if she was a successful athlete. She disclosed that her mother was initially reluctant to allow her to pursue a career in track and field because of her early struggles with asthma.
The only sport I participated in was track and field. Due to my asthma, my mother was even afraid to enroll me in track and field.
