BREAKING: Division II Star Elyjah Freeman Commits to Auburn for 2025-26 Season
AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s basketball is adding a major weapon to its roster, as NCAA Division II standout Elyjah Freeman has officially committed to join the Tigers for the 2025-26 season.
The 6-foot-8 guard/forward is coming off a breakout freshman campaign at Lincoln Memorial University (Harrogate, TN), where he averaged 18.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Freeman also impressed with elite efficiency—shooting 45.6% from three-point range and 58.7% from the field, ranking 25th nationally.
Freeman’s season was highlighted by back-to-back scoring explosions in January, notching a career-high 36 points at Carson-Newman followed by 35 against Coker. His performances earned him both South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week and NABC Division II National Player of the Week honors. He capped the year as the 2025 SAC Freshman of the Year and finished tied for 18th nationally—and first in the SAC—with 12 double-doubles.
“Elyjah Freeman is your classic late bloomer,” said Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl. “He was under-recruited out of high school, goes to Lincoln Memorial and just does a tremendous job. One of the best offensive players in all of Division II basketball as a freshman. Elyjah is an incredibly hard worker, dedicated and driven. He’s got some instincts that are hard to teach.”
Pearl added that Freeman’s versatility will be key for Auburn. “He also has the size of a forward, but he will play a big guard position for Auburn. Incredible mom and great support at home. He was one of the best young players we evaluated in the portal this year.”
A native of Palm Beach, Florida, Freeman was a McDonald’s All-American nominee at Wellington High School and now steps into the SEC spotlight with a chance to make an immediate impact for the Tigers.
