BREAKING: College Football’s No. 1 ‘Freak’ has been revealed before the 2024 season

The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners have earned the most attention this offseason as they transition from the Big 12 to the SEC. However, the South Carolina Gamecocks garner less attention than other conference programs.

The Gamecocks recently made history by releasing Bruce Feldman’s College Football “Freaks” List. Wide receiver Nyckoles Harbor topped the “freaks” list. It was the first time in the list’s history that a player has topped the rankings for two consecutive seasons.

Harbor was a previous five-star athlete in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also the best player at his position.

Last season, the former five-star prospect competed for playing time alongside receivers such as Xavier Legette, Trey Knox, and Ahmarean Brown at South Carolina. Legette and Knox went to the NFL, and Brown is now in the USFL.

Another change occurred at South Carolina after the 2023 season. Spencer Rattler, the starting quarterback, is now in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.

LaNorris Sellers is anticipated to start at quarterback this season. He played three games as a true freshman in 2023. Sellers was a former four-star quarterback in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

This year, South Carolina’s running game will look different. Rocket Sanders, a former Arkansas Razorbacks running back, transferred to the Gamecocks this offseason. Sanders totaled 2,230 running yards and 17 touchdowns at Arkansas.

Shane Beamer, Columbia’s head coach, endured his first losing season in 2023. South Carolina finished the year 5-7. Beamer previously led the program to the Duke Mayo Bowl in 2021 and the Gator Bowl in 2022.

South Carolina begins the season against the Old Dominion Monarchs on August 31.
