NEWS FLASH: Cleveland Browns’ stars Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston gets shocking prediction

One NFL pundit has made a shocking prediction concerning Cleveland Browns quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston.

The Cleveland Browns are among the most divisive teams entering the 2024 NFL season. Some believe they have the potential to compete for the Super Bowl. Others believe they will finish bottom in the AFC North.

The Browns’ lack of certainty stems primarily from their quarterback predicament. Deshaun Watson has appeared in just 12 games since being acquired through a trade in March 2022, and the team added Jameis Winston this offseason.

Is Watson’s job in jeopardy?

NFL Insider Reveals Major Update on Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson's Health

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report seems to believe so.

Cleveland was ranked 16th in the most recent Bleacher Report NFL power rankings, and Gary Davenport blamed Watson for the drop.

“There’s a reason that Jameis Winston was brought to Cleveland,” Davenport told the audience. “The Browns will never admit it, but at this point even they realize that the Watson deal is a disaster.”

Winston may be the best backup quarterback in sports, with plenty of starting experience, and Davenport appears to believe he will succeed Watson by midseason.

“Cleveland’s defensive and offensive lines are among the best in the NFL. But their standing as a Super Bowl contender is dependent on Watson turning back the clock to 2020—and we have seen nothing to suggest that will happen,” said Davenport. “Winston will more likely than not be starting by midseason, and at some point.”

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston Receives Big-Time Praise

Davenport also stated that the Browns will have to “blow the team up because of Watson’s abomination of a contract.”

When Cleveland traded for Watson, it gave him a fully guaranteed $230 million contract. Since then, he has thrown 14 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions, missing 22 games due to suspension and injury. He is also coming back from a shoulder injury.

All things considered, it’s easy to see why there is so much concern about Watson, but bear in mind that the Browns won 11 games and made the playoffs last season while rotating through five different starting quarterbacks.

Hopefully, Watson is able to silence all of his doubters.

Cleveland will host the Dallas Cowboys in its season opener on Sunday.
