The conclusion to the summer transfer window was an excellent one at Elland Road. When plenty of supporters feared it would end on a disappointing note, two deadline-day additions addressed significant weaknesses.
Melvin Bard joined to strengthen the left side of the defence, while Jean-Matteo Bahoya added more options to the attack on the left wing. The latter, however, came as a response to United failing to secure Mykhailo Mudryk.

Leeds worked hard to persuade Chelsea to approve Mudryk’s move to Elland Road. The player was keen on the transfer, but Leeds seemingly did not meet the conditions demanded by the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Instead, he moved to a Spurs team that were determined to meet whatever asking price selling clubs placed on their players during the summer.
However, Mudryk has already suffered an early setback after an image surfaced this week showing him wearing a protective boot. Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has since confirmed that the winger has picked up an injury.
He is expected to remain unavailable until at least the conclusion of the first international break, which ends on October 6th. As a result, Mudryk is set to miss around a month of action, while Leeds will be hoping for a strong start from Bahoya at Elland Road.

Signing Mudryk was always likely to carry an element of risk for whichever club secured his services.
I would have welcomed him at Leeds when we were chasing his signature, as he could have brought plenty to the team alongside Noah Okafor on the left. However, there was always a concern that he might initially struggle with his fitness, and this injury appears to underline that possibility.
By comparison, Bahoya’s arrival could prove to be an excellent long-term investment for Leeds, something Mudryk may not have represented to the same extent.
For Mudryk to make a success of his loan spell, Leeds or Spurs would have needed him performing consistently throughout the campaign. Instead, he has picked up an injury almost immediately at Spurs and now faces a period of trying to catch up.
