REPORT: Miami football’s top target cancels official visit with Hurricanes
Cortez Mills, a four-star wide receiver from Homestead, said on Tuesday morning that he will no longer be attending an official visit with the Miami football program this weekend.
Cortez Mills, a four-star 2025 Homestead wide receiver who is reportedly interested in playing for Miami, will not be visiting the Hurricanes this weekend. According to 247Sports, Mills has recently been trending toward Clemson, with three crystal balls projecting him to the Tigers.
On June 10, National Recruiting Analyst Tom Loy offered Clemson his 247Sports crystal ball for Mills. On June 12, Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U and Austin Hannon of Clemson247 logged crystal balls for Mills and the Tigers. Loy wrote an essay on June 13 pronouncing Clemson the clear favorite for Mills.
According to his On3 profile, Mills has already visited Nebraska, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Florida on official business. According to Mills’ On3 page, Miami hosted him eight times for unofficial trips between January 2023 and March 2024. In recent weeks, Miami has focused primarily on wide receivers Vernell Brown III, Jaime Ffrench, and Dallas Wilson.
Wilson paid a visit to Miami this past weekend, while Brown and Ffrench began their formal trips on June 11. Miami does not have a WR committed for the 2024 class. Wilson is committed to Oregon. Brown and Ffrench have many 247Sports crystal balls pointing to Ohio State.

Ffrench recently indicated that LSU, Miami, and Texas are his top three. Ffench is the only five-star prospect among the four receivers mentioned. Brown, Mills, and Wilson are all considered four-star prospects. According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Mills is “one of the most talented offensive playmakers in the class of 2025.”
Mills recorded 79 receptions for 1,640 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2023, according to Andrew Ivins of 247Sports. Mills, who stands 6’1 and weighs 170 pounds, has tremendous length but will need to gain muscle mass in college. The weekend marks the end of summer official visits. If the parties reach an agreement, Mills may choose to make an official visit to Miami this fall.
