LEGENDARY VIKING: Jimmy Kleinsasser – The Ultimate Blue-Collar Hero of Minnesota

Jimmy Kleinsasser, the pride of Carrington, North Dakota, carved out a legendary 13-year career with the Minnesota Vikings from 1999 to 2011. Drafted in the second round, the tight end/H-back became a symbol of grit, heart, and hard-nosed football, earning the respect of fans, teammates, and coaches alike.

Known for his dominant blocking, Kleinsasser helped pave the way for seven of the Vikings’ top eight single-season rushing performances, including Adrian Peterson’s 1,760-yard masterpiece in 2008. Though never one to seek the spotlight, his numbers still impress: 192 receptions, 1,688 yards, and six touchdowns across 181 games.

Twice named to USA Today’s All-Joe Team for his under-the-radar excellence, Kleinsasser’s legacy is built on selflessness, durability, and love for the game. When he retired, he did so as a true Viking — helmet raised high, leaving it all on the field.
