BREAKING: Pittsburgh Steelers land Colorado star in latest Mock Draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers could land one of the most unique players in the 2025 NFL Draft. Looking ahead to the next offseason, The 33rd Team believes the black and gold will have the opportunity to add a quality cornerback who has also excelled at wide receiver in college.
In their 2025 NFL Mock Draft, The 33rd Team has the Steelers picking 14th. Pittsburgh gets cornerback Travis Hunter from Colorado with their first-round pick.
“While Travis Hunter can play corner and wide receiver at Colorado, his best fit at the next level is probably on the defensive side,” according to their report.
“His instincts and ball skills are really unusual on that side of the ball. Hunter’s tough-minded attitude will appeal to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he will fill a significant need across from Joey Porter Jr.”
Hunter, who is expected to play cornerback in the NFL, joins Joey Porter Jr. as one of the team’s young outside building blocks. If they develop Cory Trice Jr. and Darius Rush, they’ll have a core group of four players in their first three seasons.
Hunter ended his debut season as a cornerback at Colorado with 30 tackles, two for loss, five pass deflections, and three interceptions.
Last season, the Steelers nearly made the playoffs and finished with the twentieth pick in the draft. As a result, despite the signings of Russell Wilson, Patrick Queen, Troy Fautanu, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, The 33rd Team fears they will certainly fall behind in 2024.
If that’s the case, they might search for a quarterback in next year’s draft. Unfortunately, no actions were made behind them in the mock draft. With four players selected before them (Carson Beck, Shedeur Sanders, Garrett Nussmeier, and Jalen Milroe), there should be some possibilities in the second round.
