OUTRAGE: $100M Man Utd Superstar BRUTALLY TASHED Live on Air—’He’s Not Even Good Enough for LEEDS!’ (Fans are LOSING It!)”

Karl Darlow burned his bridges with Leeds United this summer when he turned down an offer to remain at Elland Road in favour of a free transfer to Manchester United.

Leeds did not even mention Manchester United in the statement they issued following Darlow’s departure, in which they confirmed that the goalkeeper had been offered a new contract.

It emerged that Darlow wanted guarantees over being the number one at Leeds, but Daniel Farke was unwilling to make those assurances, and the club subsequently lined up a deal for James Trafford.

Darlow endured a nightmare debut for Manchester United on Wednesday night when Brighton eliminated them from the EFL Cup at Old Trafford.

Karl Darlow gets slammed live on talkSPORT

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick rotated his team against Brighton on Wednesday night, giving Darlow his first appearance for the club.

However, journalist Alex Crook believes the Manchester United boss was not in a position to take such chances after a disappointing start to the campaign and defeat in the Manchester derby.

He insisted Karl Darlow looked like a goalkeeper who still belonged on the Leeds bench, while Manchester United fielded two inexperienced young defenders who were exposed by Brighton.

Crook said on talkSPORT: “I am not sure Man United were in a position to write off this cup tie and put a goalkeeper, who probably still should be on the Leeds bench, no disrespect to Karl Darlow.

“He has gone for two young central defenders, who got found out as well.”

James Trafford is a huge upgrade on Darlow

Daniel Farke was eager to retain Karl Darlow at Leeds, and the club even put a new contract on the table for the experienced goalkeeper. However, the manager was not prepared to guarantee him the No.1 shirt, and that eventually proved decisive.

With Leeds determined to sign James Trafford, Darlow was always likely to find himself behind the England international in the pecking order. In hindsight, the decision appears even more justified.

Darlow performed a reliable role last season, but Trafford has elevated the position to another level. His composure, authority and ability to control his area have provided an entirely different level of confidence to the Leeds defence. The contrast is already evident, with Trafford looking every bit a Premier League No.1.

Leeds have progressed without missing Darlow, while the veteran goalkeeper could now face a prolonged wait for another Manchester United appearance, potentially until 2027.
