Crystal Palace are already considering a potential replacement for Pierre Sage, with former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Rob Edwards now being looked at.
It has been a difficult opening spell for Sage in the Premier League, with the former Lens manager securing just one victory from his first four matches, and the 3-2 loss to Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park last time out could be particularly worrying.
The Eagles went ahead through Anan Khalaili early in the first half, before Emersson levelled the scores shortly afterwards, while the major turning point arrived when Axel Disasi received a straight red card in the 34th minute.
As a result, Sage’s side are currently 16th in the Premier League standings, and they have shipped 11 goals, the most of any team, although it remains extremely early in the campaign.

Furthermore, chairman Steve Parish is reportedly frustrated by the Frenchman’s decision to omit Jaydee Canvot from the squad against the Tractor Boys at the weekend, especially given that the centre-back is considered one of the club’s most important young prospects.
The 47-year-old will have the chance to correct matters tonight when his team face Lech Poznan at Selhurst Park in the club’s first-ever Europa League fixture, but pressure already appears to be building, with Edwards being considered as a possible successor.
Most recently, the Welshman was managing Wolves, but he inherited the team during a challenging period and could not prevent the Old Gold from suffering relegation from the Premier League, before being replaced by Cesar Peixoto during the summer.
However, the 43-year-old has an otherwise respectable managerial record, most notably leading Luton Town to Premier League promotion through the play-offs during the 2022-23 season.
Former Luton player Tom Lockyer has also praised his ex-manager, saying after the Hatters secured promotion: “He’s not just an unbelievable manager, but you can tell the ethos he has about family first always, and we have created a family.
“Luton Town is a family now. It was amazing to see.”
Crystal Palace considering Rob Edwards as Pierre Sage replacement
According to a report by Football Insider, Crystal Palace are now weighing up a move for Edwards, with sporting director Matt Hobbs reportedly a major admirer after previously working alongside him at Molineux.
Senior players are reportedly already becoming frustrated with Sage, with concerns over his training methods leaving the Frenchman under growing pressure ahead of tonight’s Europa League encounter against Lech Poznan.
However, the Eagles could need to act quickly if they want to secure the former Luton manager, as Birmingham City are prepared to make an approach for Edwards if the Championship club decide to part company with Chris Davies, who has overseen a disappointing beginning to the season.
