The former Parkhead favourite tried to ease tensions with former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson during an awkward “cuddle”.
Barry Ferguson declined a “cuddle” from Celtic rival Charlie Mulgrew when the pair came together again following their clash at the Tennent’s Sixes.
After the six-a-side contest between Celtic and Rangers legends, tempers flared as Mulgrew celebrated the Hoops’ triumph over their rivals in the final.
The retired defender revealed that he had told Ferguson and Ian Durrant, who were seated on the Rangers bench, to ‘get it up yous’ at full-time after the Celtic legends claimed a thrilling 5-4 victory.
Mulgrew was also seen leaving his pal Andy Halliday hanging after the final whistle, while footage that later emerged from the Rangers dressing room showed that the former professionals had not taken the loss particularly well.
As the pair returned to Go Radio’s Football Show for the first time since the incident, former Ibrox captain Ferguson joked: “We met after the game when I had to stop Charlie from celebrating.”
Mulgrew replied: “We never fell out. Emotions run high, you win the game and a lot of things lead up to it.
“Amazing feeling. If it was me on the other end I would have been disappointed. We get the win and emotions run high. All good now.
Ferguson added: “I got told that during the weekend quite a lot of things were missed on camera.
“At the end of the day you win, people celebrate differently. Charlie was going for it, but I just went on the pitch and shook his hand. I am fine with it. It is over and done with.
The Celtic favourite explained: “You get battered 7-1 . That is never nice. We are up against a team with better legs than us and it is really difficult for us to win.

“Charlie Adam done a celebration…I am talking about it personally… someone starts doing keepy-ups at 2-0 and I got megged twice from Martyn Waghorn so my head goes. Then you are like, right we need to win this. You are in the heat of the battle.
Ferguson continued: “Of course you want to win. I will be honest with you we were really good during the tournament, but we ran out of a bit of steam.
“I could see it in the semi-final to be honest with you. I was kind of playing the same five players.
You go two-up and to be fair to Celtic they come back then we go 4-2 and then we ran out of a bit of steam.
“Overall, it was a really good weekend. From a Rangers point of view, bumping into guys I had played with, not seen for a while, managed and guys who I didn’t really know and to be fair to Rangers they looked after us brilliantly.
“Going to the tournament and bumping into guys that you came up against years ago and not seen. It was a good weekend, just disappointing you don’t win it.”
Mulgrew added: “I honestly felt like I had won a league title. That was the same feeling. I woke up the next morning and I was a bit like ‘jeez how did I get to those levels of emotions’ it is hard to explain.
“It is a build up from the weekend, that is what happens.”
Mulgrew concluded the discussion by insisting he would give Ferguson a “wee cuddle” at the end of the show. Keeping his promise, he leaned in to embrace Ferguson, but the former Rangers skipper rejected the gesture, declaring “I am not cuddly guy”. Despite the refusal, Mulgrew persisted and pulled his Tennent’s Sixes rival into an embrace.
