RANGERS LEGEND ERUPTS IN FURY! ‘DISRESPECTFUL’ CELTIC TALK SPARKS EXPLOSIVE ROW OVER FORMER BOSS

Martin O’Neill has received support from a former Rangers player amid criticism of Celtic’s recent displays.

The Celtic manager is facing mounting pressure following four defeats in five games, despite the club’s impressive start to the season, which has left them at the top of the Premiership.

Former Rangers player Phil Bardsley, who worked under O’Neill at Sunderland, told the Daily Record that discussions about replacing the experienced manager were disrespectful.

He said: “I just think it’s disrespectful to Martin O’Neill. I’m not quite sure what’s going on.”

Bardsley highlighted O’Neill’s achievements, describing his work last year as remarkable, particularly when Hearts and Rangers appeared to have the advantage. He said: “For Celtic to nip it at the end was an incredible job from Martin and his staff.”

Bardsley recognised Celtic’s difficult start to the campaign and the off-field challenges facing the club, including ownership concerns and tensions with supporters. However, he believes these issues should not diminish O’Neill’s achievements.

He said: “It’s totally disrespectful to the manager, and I wouldn’t be best pleased if I were Martin O’Neill.”

Celtic’s recent struggles have intensified questions about O’Neill’s position following an encouraging start to the season. The team has lost to Rangers, Ferencvaros and Benfica, although they secured a 2-0 win against Motherwell.

Their latest setback was a heavy 4-1 defeat away to Benfica in Lisbon in the Europa League.
