The Whites brought the forward in from Eintracht Frankfurt on deadline day, with an option to make his transfer permanent for an initial fee of £19.7million.
However, Daniel Farke and his staff are willing to wait and assess how the 21-year-old settles at Elland Road before deciding on his long-term future.
Even so, sources say Leeds will be “more than happy” to complete a permanent deal for Bahoya if he delivers a strong campaign.
The young attacker attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs during the summer, but Leeds eventually won the battle for his signature.
Bahoya recorded three goals and four assists in the Bundesliga last season, although he is yet to make an appearance for his new side since completing his move.
Leeds not worried about Jean-Matteo Bahoya fee
Leeds acted swiftly to bring Bahoya in as cover for Willy Gnonto during the closing stages of the transfer window, and the club has significant expectations for him this season.
The French youngster has impressed in Germany over recent seasons, with the Whites confident that his style can adapt successfully to the Premier League.
Recent reports have claimed that Leeds are not completely satisfied with the potential £4.3m in add-ons included in a possible permanent transfer.
However, it is understood that the overall cost is not a major concern for the West Yorkshire club.
Should Bahoya perform strongly throughout the season, Leeds intend to activate their option to sign him permanently, irrespective of the final valuation.
Farke’s squad has required additional options in the wide positions for some time, and the club has now secured an exciting young attacking prospect.
Willy Gnonto could still return to Leeds
Football Insider reported last weekend that Gnonto could potentially work his way back into Farke’s plans next summer.
The Italian recently moved to Serie A outfit Fiorentina on a season-long loan, with the club also holding an £18m option to buy.
However, sources indicate that if Gnonto fails to do enough to persuade Fiorentina to sign him permanently, Farke could be willing to offer him another opportunity at Elland Road next summer.
Gnonto had slipped towards the fringes of the Leeds squad, but the possibility of a long-term return has not been completely ruled out.
