Celtic Urged to Pull Off BOMBSHELL Move for Rangers Hero’s Son as Scott Brown Teases STUNNING Free-Agent Twist

The suggestion emerged after Rangers battled past Celtic in the latest Old Firm clash.

Celtic legend Scott Brown and the BBC Sportsound studio were left amused by the possibility of a Rangers-connected star making a switch to Parkhead.

Just a week after their 3-0 Premier Sports Cup defeat to the Light Blues at Ibrox, Derek McInnes’ team responded with a 1-0 away victory in the Premiership, courtesy of Ryan Naderi’s strike. The result has increased frustration over Martin O’Neill’s Celtic side this season, with one supporter contacting Sportsound to propose a potential signing.

Lewis Ferguson, the son of Rangers favourite Derek and nephew of former captain Barry, currently plays for Bologna in Serie A. Panellist Tom English read out a message which said: ‘there’s no pace in the Celtic side, no physicality, no mean streak, Callum McGregor has finished, He’s too old and too slow now, get Lewis Ferguson in.’ The suggestion prompted laughter in the studio, with former Celtic midfielder Brown responding: ‘I’m not sure Lewis is going to go Celtic!’

Could Celtic make more signings?

Brown also suggested that Celtic could look at bringing in free agents. He said: “Rangers won more duels than Celtic and I don’t even need to see that start because the amount of times the second balls were picked up, they just looked that little bit more reactive than what Celtic did. The last 10-15 minutes, Celtic’s always going to have a couple of opportunities because the Rangers sit off, they get a little bit deeper, they try and protect their lead, and they’ve done that.

“They’ve not done enough over the game to go and deserve to win that. The pressure was very, very passive. They went in ones and twos, didn’t go together as a team, and the amount of times I was watching, the ball goes over one side, the opposite winger or whoever it was, they were outside the Rangers left centre-back or the right centre-back at that point in time.

“And whether it was a Hogh or somebody else winning the ball, who’s naturally going to go and win that second ball? That was the worry and you’ve got Callum McGregor and you’ve got Mika Baur in the middle of the park there. There’s a lot of work to be done for those two, especially when you go to a 4-4-2 in those situations.

“They didn’t win enough duels. They were bullied throughout the pitch and that’s two games in a row. That’s not good enough for any Celtic and now they’re going into international break.

There’s a lot of pressure on how Martin O’Neill now deals with that three weeks in that international break and how he can come out the other side. He’s got to have an understanding of what his best team is, what his best shape is and go from there.

“It’s always a challenge when you lose two games in a row to your biggest rivals. Martin O’Neill knows that better than anybody. He’s been through it, he’s been through hard times, he’s been through good times, but now his job is to get the best out of that Celtic squad. Whoever it is, if there’s anybody there on a free Bosman that can come in, or if they’re stuck with those ones there as well. You need to get a tune-out with the lads, you need to start being in a good place and getting the crowd behind them again.
