Lakers News: Tyronn Lue, Head Coach of the Clippers, Talks About How Kobe Bryant Affected His Career

After interviewing Lue for the head coaching position that was then open, the Lakers decided to choose Frank Vogel instead. Lue eventually agreed to take the same position with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he has already made them appear like a title contender.

Lue has guided the Clippers to a winning regular season record each year since joining the team, and he has even advanced them to the Western Conference Finals. Even though Lue hasn’t yet won the team’s first championship, the Clippers are clearly pleased with his play.

Ahead of the four-year anniversary of the Lakers legend’s passing, Lue recently acknowledged Kobe Bryant for helping him adopt the proper mentality for his work, despite the fact that Lue performed all the heavy lifting himself.

Simply his mindset, Lue remarked. “A relentless work ethic each and every day. When I first started playing, Kobe was a young player, and I remember his commitment to the game. He threw everything into the basketball game, and I approach life in a same manner. Basketball is everything to me. And such was Kobe’s way of living. Seeing the amount of effort he put in every day—being the first to the gym and the last to leave—made him want to be the greatest and the finest. Exercise in the summers meant getting up at 5:30 a.m. and dedicating yourself to it.
